Trig.com - in Mashable's Top 10 Most Beautiful?

First I would like to point out that Mashable.com said this about Trig:
"Trig is a sweet sight for the sore eyes of a web designer/hipster who spent too many days wailing about horrid MySpace profiles. It’s quite similar to Virb but in our opinion looks even nicer, with black and 20 shades of gray being the dominant colors. Trig is mostly music-oriented, so if you have a band that’s simply too artsy to have a MySpace profile, you know what to do."
Granted Myspace has it's issues backed up from here to the moon but still. Honestly, I can say Myspace is doing a much better job as of lately...but anywho, on to the point.

When I first went to Trig.com, I thought well, this is a pretty simple site. Then I thought, "where the hell is the menu at?!" I finally found it at the top...and once I found it my eyes started bugging out.

Tip: Light blue on gray? Good god...I hope they plan on fixing that soon. I mean, I think I need eye surgery now after staring at it for a minute just looking through their navigation menu.

I do have to point out this though, they were intelligent enough to have an option on the side of the banner called "Hit the Lights" which darkens the entire site. Pretty cool. So after I "Hit the Lights" my eyes were much more pleased. But making it darker with that same font and blue color just showed that the font in general, is hard enough to read on its own.

Other than the fact that their font makes everything hard on the eyes, it is well, a pretty site overall... I guess...

Welcome.

Welcome to What Not To Design. As you may or may not know, my name is Nate, the main designer for Amvona.com. I am a professional designer, with a keen eye for things gone bad...and trust me, I will let you know if things are off even just a tad.

I would go on and on about what this blog is for, but just read the title "What Not To Design" and you should understand immediately. Anytime I find something that shouldn't belong, it sure will be going in here. Try not to take offense to anything as I will be bluntly honest. Take my words as you like, but also keep in mind that it will all just be my opinion and critiques. As a designer I have learned to take everyones critiques and embed them within my designs (yes, even if they have no designing background what so ever).

Right now I am backed up at work with re-creating our whole entire website (fun stuff). So, I will try and make posts as much as I can...especially when I see something that eats away at me and where I believe something needs to be said about it.

Take care all. Happy designing!

- Nate
